What is the best way to plan a trip to Darjeeling and Gangtok?

I want to spend about 7-8 days in Darjeeling and Gangtok between feb 23 and march 3with my newly wed wife.


I want to know if it is better to plan the trip all by myself - which would obviously save costs - or is it better to go with a trip planner. The reason I ask this is since there is a huge difference in the costs if I hire a trip planner in that it would cost me double as much money as it would cost me if I plan it by myself. I do not mind spending time for planning the trip. please help. Also please help me if you know any good hotels - upto Rs 1500 per day - over there in Darjeeling and Gangtok|||Research it first. Then plan on what you want to see and how long it will take you to see it. If you plan on staying in one place and just relaxing, then just plan that. Plan to pay for food. Look at what you eat, and double that for the budget. Look at lodging and make sure of what they charge per person or per bed. Have fun and congratulations.
