Need a laptop to take over the road?

A few questions:

I am going to drive over the road as a truck driver. I am open to any suggestions about what laptop to purchase and what to buy as a route planner. Looking to spend around $800.00

My main application will be surfing the net while out on the road. Never been much of a game player. My internet provider at home is AT%26amp;T

As far as route planning goes, thinking of maybe purchasing Microsoft Streets %26amp; Trips or Truck Stops Plus or both?

Thank you for you time

dave|||u can get the this card that u plug in ur computer and get internet mosly anywere but it is around $50/month and u could get this type of internet from sprint or verison|||well if you leave with in like 100 ft from your internet router then you wont have internet any more that is why lap tops have a internet card in it so youll have to connect to other internet sources while driving

if you want a cheap one like that id get a

averatec laptop pc

they are small and affordable and have one myself|||I love my laptop its an hp..........it was 1400..............but hey driving and using a laptop is not safe! (just saying)|||since you already have AT%26amp;T I also do they have a internet card wiht a monthly rate that you can have internet though on the road. call or go by a store to find out prices for the wireless card and many truck stops have routers

But I dont believe you will find a good laptop for 800|||http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shoppi鈥?/a>

you can get mobile broadband which will connect you to internet for monthly fee, you can get rid of service provider at home, if you have money, maybe get microphone and webcam for live chat, also, please get 2 gigs of ram otherwise vista will run not run quickly just slow, but fine for web browsing
